Hong Kong shares lukewarmly after the violence creates markets – the Asian market last The



[Seng] index ( HSI ) was up 0.3%. On Monday, the index fell more than 2.6% – the worst percentage loss in a day since early August, according to Refinitive data.

Markets plunged on Monday as violence escalated to new levels in Hong Kong. A traffic officer shot a protester and in another part of town a man was set on fire when he confronted a group of protesters.

Elsewhere in the region, China's Shanghai Composite Index ( SHCOMP ) opened slightly higher, but was down almost 0.2%. This index recorded its worst fall in more than four months on Monday, thanks to uncertainty surrounding US-China trade talks and disappointing economic data.
Japan's Nikkei 225 ( N225 ) and South Korea's Kospi Index ( KOSPI ) increased each with 0.1
%.
US futures moved slightly lower during Asian trading hours on Tuesday, following a slight increase. Futures for Dow ( INDU ) S&P 500 ( SPX ) and Nasdaq [19659002] ( COMP ) were all down between 0.1% and 0.2%.
