High blood pressure: A certain drink can help lower blood pressure
High blood pressure is a condition in which the blood force against the arterial walls is too high. Eventually, uncontrolled high blood pressure can lead to heart failure. High blood pressure usually has no signs or symptoms. If you have high blood pressure, this higher pressure puts extra strain on your heart and blood vessels. Over time, this extra strain increases the risk of heart attack or stroke. High blood pressure can also cause heart and kidney disease, and is closely linked to some forms of dementia. But high blood pressure can be reduced by taking apple cider vinegar. How much should one take to ensure that blood pressure levels are healthy?
Apple cider vinegar has long been hailed as "curing all" for many diseases and conditions.
Studies have shown that apple cider vinegar can play a role in keeping blood pressure low.
Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid which is believed to help lower blood pressure. In a study of high blood pressure rats, apple cider vinegar was given to them over a prolonged period.
The study showed that the rats had a reduction in blood pressure and in an enzyme called renin.
The researchers believe that the decreased renin activity caused lower blood pressure.
Apple cider vinegar works by reducing the activity of renal hormone renin.
Renin is responsible for instructing blood vessels to narrow dilatation.
Narrow blood vessels cause blood pressure to rise.
A person should try and aim for about three teaspoons of apple cider vinegar per day.
For a person who wants to add more apple cider vinegar to their diets, it could be added to popcorn, drizzled over meat or vegetables, added to a smoothie, mixed with olive oil and herbs for salad dressing or mixed in tea and some honey .
Apple cider vinegar can also be taken as a shot, or you can make a cayenne tonic by adding a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a small amount of cayenne pepper to a cup of water.
Doctor Sarah Brewer said: "By reducing the activity of renin, vinegar can help blood vessels to relax.
" Taking apple cider vinegar can also lower blood cholesterol levels.
"While there are no guarantees, you may find it helpful to add apple cider vinegar to your diet to lower blood pressure and cholesterol."
