DEARBORN, Mich. – Henry Ford in suburban Detroit has acquired more than 6,600 Hallmark Keepsake ornaments from an Indiana collector.

The Dearborn Museum Complex focuses on American innovation and says the collection includes Christmas, Easter, Halloween miniatures and illuminated ornaments. Some will be shown this holiday. The entire collection is expected to appear next year.

They were purchased from The Party Shop in Warsaw, Indiana, which was also the home of the Hallmark Ornament Museum. Henry Ford says it was contacted to obtain the collection following the owners' decision to retire.

Hallmark has introduced more than 8,500 ornaments and more than 100 ornament series since 1973.

Henry Ford President Patricia Mooradian states “Hallmarks Keepsake ornaments have become an important part of American holiday traditions. "
