DETROIT – A serious health alert was issued Saturday morning for heart related medication.
The Food and Drug Administration states that the substance Zantac contains low levels of a chemical related to cancer.
The chemical called NDMA is associated with an increased risk of colon and uterine cancer. Last year, blood pressure medication was recalled due to the chemical.
So far, no recall has been given as the FDA continues to investigate whether the low levels pose a serious health risk.
