Hawaiian Airlines implements check-in changes at Honolulu Airport

HONOLULU (KHON2) ̵[ads1]1; Changes are on the way for travelers flying from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.
Hawaiian Airlines changes check-in areas for international and international departures. [19659003] Hawaiian Airlines says it is flying around 10,000 passengers out of Daniel K Inouye Airport every day. And there are times when it almost seems that each of them checks at the same time.
"Once upon a time, we actually came about two and a half hours early, and it took us about two hours to get through and we went over to our plane, it will be very bad here, said passenger Elias Yadao.
I Over the next few weeks, international passengers will start checking in at Lobby 4 in Terminal 2, towards Lobby 3 in Terminal 1. [19659003] Tour operators began releasing selected passengers on Hawaiian non-stop flights to Japan directly in Lobby 4 earlier this month, and all passengers traveling outside Japan start using Lobby 4 on Wednesday, December 19.
It takes about one third of people out of Lobbies 2 and 3 where we operate today. It helps us balance operation and provide a better experience to all our guests, said Jeff Helfrick, vice president of airport operations at Hawaii Airlines.
So on January 9, 2019, barges flying to Hawaii's international destinations and American Samoa will check in lo bby 4.
Volunteers in Team Kokua will help lead passengers to the current lobby.
"The change will increase the efficiency of international travelers in Terminal 2 while at the same time relieving the congestion experienced in Terminal 1 during holidays, especially from 10 to 14 daily," said Hawaii Department of Transportation Director Jade Butay.
Some inter-country passengers already notice less tribulation in the lobby.
"I was really surprised. I told my husband that it's not as crowded as normal. So in a week before Christmas, this place is like crazy lines, so it's very good, says passenger Irene Smith.
"We will do our best to get a stress free, easy travel experience. Moving one third of our guests to Lobby 4 will give a better balance," said Helfrick.
Hawaiian Airlines will share lobby 4 with Qantas Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Air Canada and Korean Air. Terminal signage will be adjusted to reflect the change.
Additional changes that come into force on January 9 include moving the neighboring eye fly-check in from Lobby 2 to Lobby 3 in Terminal 1. Passengers traveling to North American destinations will continue to check in lobby 2.
Hawaiian Airlines passengers using Lobby 4 will use TSA checkpoints 2 and 3 located in terminal 2. Passengers on the neighboring island and North American flights are encouraged to to continue using one of the four available TSA control points within Terminal 1.
HDOT has designed a new TSA control point at ground level of Terminal 1 between luggage radar 8 or 9 available daily between kl. 10.00 and 2.00 to give passengers another TSA screening option during peak trips. The new TSA control point on the ground floor accommodates general boarding passengers and does not have a separate pre-check.
It is also not recommended for travelers with prams, big luggage, those who need special assistance or those who can not stand on an escalator as passengers using the control point must take an escalator to the second level.
