Greg Kelly: Ex-Nissan director gets security in Tokyo as Carlos Ghosn stays in jail

The Tokyo District Court set a 70 million yen bail ($ 635,000) for Kelly, who has been in detention since being arrested on November 19. An appeal by prosecutors was rejected and Kelly was released late on Tuesday night in Japan.
A member of Kelly's legal team in the United States said he did not yet have a statement by executive.
Kelly and Ghosn were charged two weeks ago for allegedly collaborating to undermine Ghosn's compensation in Nissan's securities deposit by about 5 billion yen ($ 45 million) over a five-year period ending in March 2015, according to prosecutors.
Kelly denies any misdemeanor. His wife said he had been mistakenly charged as part of a power struggle by Nissan leaders directed at Ghosn ̵[ads1]1; a claim for Nissan disputes.
Ghosn also maintains his innocence, according to his Tokyo-based lawyer.
Last month, Nissan's board removed Ghosn as manager and Kelly from his post as representative.
] Kelly's wife, Donna Kelly, said in a video assignment last week that her husband was to have surgery in early December for a spinal problem before a Nissan leader persuaded him to fly from home in Tennessee to Tokyo for a board meeting.
When Kelly – who usually attended board meetings by phone from the US – arrived in Tokyo, he was arrested. His wife said the back problem, known as spinal stenosis, has worsened in prisons in prisons.
Ghosn's hopes of being released at any time were quickly crushed when the accusers arrested him on a New Claim for Breach of Trust. On Sunday, a court approved that he extended his detention until January 1.
Kelly was not accused of breach of trust statement.
The maximum punishment in Japan for presenting a false financial statement – the responsibility for Kelly and Ghosn being charged – is up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to 10 million yen ($ 91,000).
