Many of the recent reports on the T-Mobile Sprint merger have suggested that Dish Network will purchase assets from the two carriers and help create a fourth competitive US carrier that meets the Justice Department so that it want to approve the merger But now another big company can get involved in the agreement.
Google is reportedly in talks with Dish to create a fourth operator in the United States. It is according to New York Post if "sources are closed to the situation," said Alphabet's board member Alan Mul ally has recently been negotiating with the dish to create a carrier. "There is no doubt they are talking," said one source.
The current plan involves Google and Dish launching a new wireless operator and network using T-Mobile-acquired assets. But the sources add that the calls are "in flux" and can fall apart.
It is said that the T-Mobile parent company Deutsche Telekom seems to be aware of the talks between Google and Dish, as it has recently been said to sell only T-Mobile's assets for recipes if no company takes more than five percent of ownership in the new bowl carrier. Both the dish and DOJ have allegedly failed that demand, and T-Mo is allegedly abandoned because of the Sprint merger and the possibility of its approval soon.
Today's report also claims that a plate deal with DOJ and T-Mobile can take at least two to three weeks to finish, with a source saying that calls are now "about half way there."
Google is a large company that has experience in the US Mobile Market with the operator Google Fi and its Pixel smartphones. Partnering with Google can really help jumpstart Dish's new US carrier, which is probably why Deutsche Telekom and T-Mobile are trying to limit the efforts another company can take in the new Dish carrier. We know that Dish Mayor Charlie Ergen is happy to wait for what he thinks is the best deal for him, and so DT and T-Mobile may be ok with Google and Dish together if they want to push the Sprint merger along.
UPDATE: NY Post has updated its original report with a statement from Google. "These claims are simply fake. Google has no conversations with Dish about creating a wireless network," said a Google spokesperson.
