Global stocks recover as investors seek bargains

LONDON – Global stock markets regained their poise Wednesday when investors picked up what they hope are bargains after another round of losses, which pulled American indices in red for the year. Oil prices rose again after a big slide Tuesday sent US raw prices down to their lowest level for over a year.

POSITION: In Europe, Germany's DAX index rose 0.9 percent at 11 170 while CAC 40 in France increased by 0.6 percent to 4.953. The FTSE 100 Index for Leading British Stocks was 1.1 percent higher at 7,021. US stocks were ready to open more fast with both Dow futures and the broader S & P 500 futures of 0.6 percent.

CONCEPT: With many US merchants going to their homes for Thanksgiving and the economic data flow in the US, business activity is set to be easy. Wall Street is closed on Thursday, and it is a shortened season on Friday.

ANALYSIS TAKE: "Bleeding seems to have stopped temporarily in this morning's European session while stocks rally along with US futures," said Dean Popplewell, Market Director Analysis at OANDA. "The technology and auto companies are currently conducting the equity regulation."

BREXIT WATCH: Although the United States will enjoy a few days, it all goes in the rest of the world, especially in Europe. The British Prime Minister Theresa May goes to Brussels on Wednesday to meet the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker in an attempt to complete a Brexit agreement as she continued to fight domestic critics of the draft.

ITALY WATCH: Separate European Commission warned Italy that the budget plans are in serious breach of the rules that support the euro's single currency and that it can meet legal measures. The European Union Leadership Group Monitoring National Budget Plans has invited the euro area to investigate its assessment in two weeks and, if they agree, the Commission will launch an "excessive deficit procedure" against Italy.

ASIA'S DAY: Japan's reference Nikkei 225 dropped 0.4 percent to 21[ads1],507.54. Kospi in South Korea was down 0.3 percent at 2.076.55. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index increased 0.5 percent to 25.971.47, and Shanghai Composite managed 0.2 percent higher to 2,651.51. Australia's S & P / ASX 200 lost 0.5 percent to 5,642.80.

ENERGY: Oil prices rebounded Wednesday after crashing concerns of rising supplies and softening global growth. Benchmark US raw added $ 1.32 to $ 54.75. The contract dropped $ 3.77 to close at $ 53.43 in New York, the lowest price of more than a year. Brent crude, the international standard traded in London, increased $ 1.34 to $ 63.87, one day after it fell to $ 4.26 in London.

CONTACT: "With a small amount of raw material set for the coming year, the markets will keep an eye on another US inventory building today after the longest continuous period of inventory growth since 2015," said Joshua Mahony, market analyst at IG.

CURRENCY: The euro increased 0.3 percent to $ 1,1406 while the dollar increased 0.3 percent at 111.08 yen.
