Glass door: Zoom dethrones Facebook as the best technology company working in the United States

Career website Glassdoor has today released its 11th Annual Employees' Choice Awards, a list of the 100 best companies to work for in the coming year. Zoom was crowned as the number one tech company to work for in 2019, and the second best company to work for, overall (Bain & Company was the first).

Zoom is best known for providing various video conferencing products and services, including the use of AI for automatic transcription. The small company knocked out Facebook, which has a tough year, at least. Having said that, Facebook has been named the top technology company five of 11 times: in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2017 and 2018.

To go back a few years, Airbnb was first in 201[ads1]6, led Google for 2015, and Twitter won for 2014. Neither Airbnb nor Twitter made the list for 2018 or 2019. Google did, as Apple did, it's the only two technology companies that make the list for 11 years. But Google was # 8 while Apple was completely down at # 71.

Every year technology companies appear on top lists like Glassdoors. After all, jobs in the technology industry are well compensated. Following the 29 companies in technology, the following categories have significantly fewer representatives: healthcare (13 companies), retail (eight companies), production (eight companies), consulting (five companies) and finance (five companies). [19659004] Methodology

The employee selection committee is based on input from employees who choose to provide feedback (at least 75 must respond) at work, work environment and company through an anonymous online survey. Glass door then uses a "proprietary algorithm" to determine a total ranking "based on quantity, quality and consistency of ratings."

The results are thus based on which employees anonymously tell Glassdoor about their employer. There are eight workplace attributes that employees can provide feedback on: Overall Company Review, Career Opportunities, Compensation and Benefits, Culture and Values, Senior Management, Work / Life Balance, Recommend to Friend and Six Month Business View. Glassdoor also evaluates different types of employment status, including full time, part-time, contract and freelance. Internal assessments are not evaluated, nor are assessments made by employees at governmental organizations, universities and multi-level marketing agencies.
