Gas service turned off to 1,700 Washington County customers
Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania turns off gas station to about 1,700 customers in Donora, Washington County Saturday night.
Representatives with Columbia Gas said the closure of the service was taken as a precautionary measure immediately after one of their crews identified identified an influx of air into the system.
Columbus Gas is currently turning off all gas meters in the affected area. Once completed, they will restore the flow of natural gas into the system, and the crew will die to perform security checks and relieve natural gas appliances.
Crews is currently reviewing and restoring the system.
Representatives with Columbia Gas said the error could last up to 38 hours.
According to Columbia Gas, the closure of the service and the steps they take are out of great caution. They said there is no threat to customers.
Columbia Gas works with local emergency personnel, and heating stations are available to customers in the area affected by gas disruption.
Heating stations are available at Carroll Township Social Hall (1[ads1]30 Baird Avenue, Monongahela PA 15063), Carroll Township Volunteer Fire Department (988 Route 837, Monongahela PA 15063) and Donora Council Chambers (603 Meldon Avenue, Donora PA 15033).
To transport to Carroll Township and Donora heating stations, customers should call 724-379-6600.
Columbia Gas reminds customers that if they smell gas to get to a safe place and call 911 and Columbia Gas at 1-888-460-4332.
