(KSTU) – Ford Motor Company picks up 410,289 pickup trucks due to a block heater problem that can cause fire.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the affected trucks were certain 2015-2019 Ford F-150s, 2017-2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty, F-450 Super Duties & F-350s. 550 Super Duty pickup trucks equipped with a motor block heater.
"Water and pollutants may enter the block heating cable connector that causes corrosion and damage," said NHTSA. Corrosion can cause a resistive card, which increases the risk of overheating or fused wire and fire.
NHTSA said Ford would alert the owners, and the dealers would "inspect and seal the block heater cable or replace it as Necessary, free."
Ford is expected to start the recall on January 7, 2019, said NHTSA.
