Ford releases electric Mustang Mach-E – earlier than intended

Ford Motor Co. unleashed its much-awaited Mustang-inspired electric SUV – a few days early.
On Thursday, the Dearborn car manufacturer temporarily published what appears to be an early booking site for the Mustang Mach-E along with pictures and vehicle specifications, according to car blog Jalopnik, which took screenshots of the site before it was taken down. The new pony ride, Ford's first fully electric SUV that is expected to charge the company in the future, is officially unveiled at 6:30 p.m. PST Sunday at the LA Auto Show (9:30 a.m. in Detroit).

Dearborn automaker has high expectations of EV as foreign and domestic automakers, pressured by regulators in China, EU and US, billions in electric vehicle development. Ford plans to stream the unveiling on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and China's Autohome, according to a news release.
The vehicle is expected to be a four-door crossover that borrows design signals from Ford's most iconic model. British actress Idris Elba, who is known for her roles in "Luther", "The Wire" and "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom," will be taking part in the introduction.
