Flight attendant who died on aircraft ID as long employed
The airline that died of a heart attack on a New York-bound aircraft was identified Friday as Emile Griffith, a 30-year-old Hawaiian Airlines veteran, said officials.
Griffith collapsed on Hawaiian Airlines Flight 50 from Honolulu to Kennedy Airport on Thursday night, requesting emergency landing in San Francisco, the company said in a statement.
"We are always grateful to Emile's colleagues and good aborigines aboard who provided extensive medical assistance," Ann Botticelli, an airline spokeswoman, said in a statement.
"Emile loved and loved his job at Hawaiian and always shared it with our guests. Our hearts are with Emile's family, friends and all the lucky ones who have known him."
The plane took off from Honolulu shortly after clock 1[ads1]6:00. on Thursday and made the emergency landing in San Francisco at 11.00 It was with over 250 passengers and 12 crews.
The passengers were distraught, and a New Yorker aboard the plane shared updates on the situation.
"Flight from Honolulu to JFK derived from SFO for a passenger needing medical help. It has been a long time since they asked doctors to come first class, so I hope they are fine," says passenger Andrea Bartz.
"The first time I've ever had a flight derived, somehow. Waiting for medical professionals to board now."
