REDDING, Calif. – The first non-stop flight from Redding to Los Angeles departure from Redding Municipal Airport Saturday morning with a complete flight of travelers, ready to make history.
"I'm so excited. I'm so excited to save two hours drive to Sac and pay for parking and go and do all those crazy things," said Suzanne Russell.
Suzanne Russell was one of 47 people on the first non-stop flight from Redding to Los Angeles in Los Angeles on United Airlines.
She says she's excited about the new planes because they want to help her build her downtown carousel in downtown Redding.
"I often go to LA. This is very convenient for me," Russell said.
Sean Brennan with Redding Municipal Airport says they expect it to be a big boost for the Rescue economy.

In addition, when the historic plane took off, the passengers were treated with a water gun salute to kick their Inaugural flight .
"I'm so excited. All this fun thing. It is fun. It feels festive, "Russell said.
