MEMPHIS, Tenn .– FedEx joins as Amazon and other companies launching an autonomous last-kilometer delivery robot
According to a company announcement, The robot help dealers deliver the same day and last mile deliveries to customers. FedEx says more than 60% of a reseller's customer lives within three miles of the establishment.
Retailers will be able to use the fine for orders to nearby customers the same day. FedEx also works with AutoZone, Lowe, Pizza Hut, Target, Walgreens and Walmart to assess the dealers' autonomous delivery needs.
The boat will travel on sidewalks and along the roadside. It will be equipped with technology to make it pedestrian-safe, including multiple cameras, and will calculate algorithms to detect and avoid obstacles.
The fine is being tested this summer in Memphis, Tennessee and other markets.
