Facebook names Instagram, WhatsApp

London, UK – July 30, 2018: The buttons for the photo app Instagram, surrounded by WhatsApp, Facebook, Messages and other apps on the screen of an iPhone.
Users of Instagram and WhatsApp will see more of Facebook as the social media giant adds the name as part of a branding strategy meant to unite the apps family.

The company said it would add the "From Facebook" code to its Instagram and WhatsApp brands, and the Facebook name would be visible to users in apps. The move brings brands in line with Workplace, Portal and Oculus, which include Facebook in their marketing efforts.

"We want to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook," spokeswoman Bertie Thomson said in an email to The Wall Street Journal.
