Facebook is "moral bankruptcy liars," says New Zealand's privacy consultant | Technology

New Zealand's privacy commissioner has launched social media giant Facebook in the wake of the Christchurch attacks, calling the company "moral bankruptcy liars".

The commissioner used his personal Twitter page to lambast the social network, which has also drawn ire of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to host a live stream of attacks that left 50 dead, which were then copied and shared across the Internet.

"Facebook can't be trusted," wrote Edwards.

They are moral bankruptcy pathologists who enable genocide (Myanmar), simplify foreign subversion of democratic institutions.

"[They] allows direct streaming of suicide, rape and murder, continues to host and publish the mosque assault video, allow advertisers to target Jewish haters and other hateful market segments, and refuse to accept any responsibility for content or damage. [19659002] "The #dontgiveazuck" wrote Edwards, later deleted tweets and said they had asked "poisonous and misinformed traffic" .

Edwards responded to an interview given by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to the United States ABC network, where he failed to commit to any changes in Facebook live technology, including a live stream delay

Zuckerberg said events such as live streaming of the Christchurch mosque attacks were the result of "bad actors", not bad technology and a time delay will interfere with the enjoyment of users sending broadcast events such as birthday parties or group presentations.

In a later date rvju with RNZ on Monday described Edwards Zuckerberg's comments as "disingenuous" and said the company had refused to tell in his office how many murders, suicides and sexual abuses were broadcast through the platform.

"It's a technology that can cause great harm," said Edwards RNZ.

Before the mosque attacks Prime Minister Ardern was an avid user of Facebook live, using the technology to broadcast her formal press conferences, as well as more informal, informal messages from the sofa in the Auckland home or in the kitchen of Premier House in Wellington.

The caretaker understands the Prime Minister's office considered which other platforms it could use to broadcast the Prime Minister's video messages, including a dedicated dedicated site to avoid using Facebook. [19659002] The latest Facebook live video from the prime minister was a press conference after the government March 25, and the latest informal Facebook live video was a discussion of climate change two days before the attack.

On Monday, Ardern said the royal commission's request for the Christchurch attack will report back to the government by 10 December 10.

The request would look at the suspected gunman's activities, the use of social media and international relations, and whether it was "Inappropriate" Priority In the State Against Terrorist Resources, Ardern said in a statement.
