Embattled Power Heinz reveals stunt to pay for Mother's Day babysitter

Kraft Heinz hopes a new maternity stunt revealed Tuesday will divert news coverage from the food supplier's plan to recover more than two years of financial performance after some of his employees are engaged in default. MORE FROM

The stunt, called Kraft's Mother's Day Away, will give mothers up to $ 100 of the babysitter bill on Mother's Day to give them more "me time". The food company said it plans to give 500 mothers across the country a chance to win.

To participate, mothers across the United States must only submit maternity babysitter bills at www.kraftmothersdayaway.com to claim a refund. The company said it plans to issue $ 50,000 refunds.

Stunt comes after a number of other major promotional campaigns from the food giant over the past year.

In January, Kraft opened a free pop-up store in Washington, DC, to offer a helping hand to furloughed federal workers. The store, called "Kraft Now Pay Later", allowed federal workers to stock up on the company's staples like the famous mac-and-cheese blend and other items for free.

In June, it also announced its Country Time Lemonade unit will defend and pay for fines related to child-driven lemonade parties that are turned off for not having permission.

PR stunts come as the packaged food retailer revealed Monday that it has received two applications related to purchasing practices and plans to revise revenue from 2016 and 2017 as well as part of 2018. Moreover, the shares have fallen more than 20 per cent this year as a result.

Warren Buffett, a key investor in Kraft Heinz, told FOX Business on Saturday that he believes he "paid too much for Kraft" at the merger with Heinz in 2015.

Buffett added that Kraft Heinz's loss hit Berkshire's fourth quarter revenue in late February, where the conglomerate posted a rare $ 3.02 bill on write-downs that Buffett said were "almost entirely attributable" to their significant share in Kraft Heinz.
