Musk suggested that electric scooters make the rider poor during the following exchange with Recode executive editor Kara Swisher:

Swisher: Yes, I'm doing it all the time

Musk: They do not work under an illusion.

Swisher: I really do. Well, I think I'm looking good and therefore – 19659005] Musk: This is an illusion.

Electric scooters have experienced both an increase in popularity and significant setbacks in the past year.
