Elon Musk does not want to make electric scooters

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in an interview with Recode published on Friday that some Tesla employees wanted the car manufacturer to make an electric scooter, but he refused their request.

"There were some people in the studio who wanted to make a scooter, but I was like," Uh, no, "said Musk.

" It lacks dignity, "he added.

Musk suggested that electric scooters make the rider poor during the following exchange with Recode executive editor Kara Swisher:

Swisher: No, it does not lack dignity.

Musk: Yes, they do. Swisher: They Do not Need Dignity What Are You Talking?

Musk: Have you tried to run one of these things? They ̵[ads1]1;

Swisher: Yes, I'm doing it all the time

Musk: They do not work under an illusion.

Swisher: I really do. Well, I think I'm looking good and therefore – 19659005] Musk: This is an illusion.

Electric scooters have experienced both an increase in popularity and significant setbacks in the past year. Companies like Bird and Lime have quickly achieved valuations of over one billion dollars, but scooters themselves have attracted criticism for cluttering sidewalks in cities where they are allowed.
