Do Kwon says he’s not hiding in the middle of the manhunt for UST, luna collapse

Do Kwon, co-founder and CEO of Terraform Labs, insists he is not on the run from South Korean authorities. Meanwhile, South Korean prosecutors claim Interpol has issued a “Red Notice” for Kwon’s arrest. South Korea has sought Kwon̵[ads1]7;s arrest since earlier this month. But prosecutors in the country have claimed that Kwon is on the run. On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the Seoul South District Prosecutor’s Office in South Korea’s capital told CNBC that global law enforcement agency Interpol has issued a “red notice” for Kwon.

Red notices are issued for fugitives wanted either for prosecution or to serve a sentence, according to Interpol. The alert is a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and arrest the person in question. This can then lead to extradition.

However, Kwon said he was not on the run, and used his Twitter account to hit back at the authorities.

“I’m writing code in my living room hbu,” Kwon tweeted in response to someone asking about his whereabouts.

Kwon insisted he makes “zero effort to hide” and said he goes on walks and to the mall.

Kwon also said that he does not see his name on Interpol’s “Red Notice” list. The agency does not always publish these notices.

Seoul’s Southern District Prosecutor’s Office views Kwon as still on the run, the spokesperson told CNBC.

Kwon’s Twitter location says he is in Singapore. But earlier this month, the Singapore Police Force said Kwon was not in the city-state.

South Korean prosecutors said the purpose of the red notice is to locate Kwon, bring him back to South Korea and then officials will decide within 48 hours whether to issue an arrest warrant for him.
