Disney + does not want video games

Disney +, the new Disney subscription streaming service from Disney, will not feature video games. Disney CEO Robert Iger confirmed this during Disney's investor day briefing, stating that Disney's plan is to only offer television and movie programming at Disney +.

The DisneyLife service in Europe offered video games as part of its overall content package. Iger acknowledged that a great learning from it was that people were more interested in television and movies than video games.

"What we learned there is that the consumer is most interested in movies and television shows. We wanted this to be a clean movie and video game for the consumer," said again about Disney +. "So we have no intention of adding more types of media to [Disney+]. I don't get into the story of video games at the company every time I mention it, I seem to get into trouble."

The last comment is probably a reference to when Iger discussed Disney's rocky history of internal game development and publishing. That's why Disney is now preparing video game license agreements with Electronic Arts.

Although Disney + will not offer games to stream, you can use a game console such as the Xbox One, PS4, or Nintendo Switch to stream the service.

Disney + launches November 1[ads1]2 in the US. It costs $ 7 / month or $ 70 a year. The service will start first in the US, with plans to launch in other markets later.
