Delta Air Lines will reduce the amount of reset on any aircraft by about two inches, with the aim of preserving the multitasking business traveler workspace.
The first Airbus A320s to get the modified seats debut this weekend, the carrier said Friday. The distance that places the reset will fall to 3.5 inches from 5.4 in the first class and to 2 inches from the 4 in the Comfort Plus and coach. The A320 is usually used on flights of two hours or less.

Changing the seats can be done overnight, and will take two months for all Delta's 62 A320s. Delta does not reduce the space between rows on the single-sided wire, which holds 157 passengers. Feedback from travelers and employees will help determine whether Delta retrofit other aircraft.
