Cruise passengers fall from balcony, die after ship leaves Florida

MIAMI (WFLA) – A passenger died on a cruise ship departing from Miami Sunday after falling from a balcony, according to reports.

The incident occurred shortly after Virgin Voyages’ Valiant Lady left Miami bound for Roatan, Honduras on Sunday, a spokesperson told Insider.

In a statement, a company spokesperson said the passenger fell from their balcony and landed on another person on the lower deck.

According to Virgin Voyages, the first passenger died from his injuries, but the second was not seriously injured.

“We are deeply saddened by this loss of life and our hearts and thoughts are with this person’s loved ones,” the cruise line said in a statement.

Additional details about the incident were not immediately available.

The ship returned to Miami on Monday after the fatal incident, but resumed its journey, according to NBC News.
