Colacup? Coaching? Pepsi cola ketchup combo last odd pairing
Baseball, hot dogs and … ketchup made with Coke? That’s what’s hitting the plate at four Major League Baseball parks on July 4, courtesy of Pepsi.
We know Pepsi isn’t shy when it comes to mixing up flavors. Remember Pepsi-infused pepperoni and Peeps flavor?
As part of its #BetterWithPepsi campaign, the cola maker decided to take things a step beyond suggesting hot dog lovers crack โ or twist โ open a bottle of Pepsi with their food. Pepsi teamed up again with the Culinary Institute of America, who helped with Pepsi pepperoni, to create a ketchup with Pepsi as an ingredient, so you could literally put Pepsi on your hot dog and not just wash it down with a Pepsi.
“The concept is both simple and creative,”[ads1]; David Kamen, director of client experience for CIA Consulting, the institute’s consulting arm, said in a statement in the Pepsi Colachup announcement. “The distinctive flavors and lively citrus blend of Pepsi enhance the bright and tangy qualities of ketchup, offsetting the smoky hot dog.”
Where can you try Pepsi Colachup?
Baseball fans can try the Pepsi-infused ketchup on July 4 at the home fields of four Major League Baseball teams โ the Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins, Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Yankees:
- Chase Field, Phoenix, AZ; ยง 130/131
- Yankee Stadium, Bronx, NY; Pepsi Lounge (Pepsi Lounge ticket required)
- Target Field, Minneapolis, MN; Section 113
- Comerica Park, Detroit, MI; Section 139
This is how you get free Pepsi when you buy hot dogs over the 4th of July weekend
Just because you can’t hit one of these ballparks doesn’t mean you can’t have a Pepsi moment. From Wednesday through July 4, buy hot dogs and Pepsi and then text “FREEPEPSI” to 81234 and upload your receipt for up to $2.59 toward the price of a 20-ounce Pepsi product.

In recent summers, Pepsi has used #BetterWithPepsi to drive home how hamburgers and pizza are both good pairings for Pepsi.
“We invented the Pepsi Colachup to reinforce how well hot dogs and Pepsi go together – an unapologetically mouth-watering creation that seamlessly blends a condiment with the ultimate hot dog pairing drink, delivering a unified taste experience,” said Pepsi CEO Jenny Danzi.
