Charles Hurt calls Medicare, Social Security a "slow rolling disaster"

The worrying economic situation for social security and Medicare represented a "slow rolling disaster," says Fox News contributor Charles Hurt, Tuesday.

"The fact is that they go bankrupt and something has to be done about it," Hurt said on "Special Report".

His comments came in light of a report in which managers announced that the programs were heading for insolvency.

By 2020, the report said the total cost of the insurance would exceed total income for the first time in almost four decades, and in seven years, Medicare Hospital Fund would be exhausted.

Several progressive lawmakers, including late Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Have proposed extending Medicare to create a single payer health system. According to Hurt, it would only make matters worse by centralizing power in the hands of bureaucrats.

MEDICARE CHIEF SEGER MEDICARE-FOR-ALL "IS THE LARGEST USE OF AMERICAN HEALTH SYSTEM" [1[ads1]9659003] "Unfortunately, the idea of" Medicare for All "- on top of the problems we are facing right now – is typical of that Typical government response: more centralized governance from Washington, that's the whole problem at first, "he said.

"Massively" expanding Medicare, he added, would not fix the program. "It's going to break it," he said.

Jonah Goldberg, a senior editor of the National Review, claimed that while President Trump's administration ignored the bad future of Medicare and Social Security, Democrats suggested wishing to aggravate the situation. 19659003] CLICK HERE TO GET FOX NEWS APP

"We have a huge transfer of wealth from young people to old people," Goldberg said. "It's not sustainable, it must be torn up from the ground."

Although Hurt recognized the situation so badly, he also foresaw that the country's strong economic situation made it easier for the government to reform its costly programs. "It's going to be much easier to fix these programs with a good economy like the one we have right now," he said.
