Charles Hurt calls Medicare, Social Security a "slow rolling disaster"

The worrying economic situation for social security and Medicare represented a "slow rolling disaster," says Fox News contributor Charles Hurt, Tuesday.

"The fact is that they go bankrupt and something has to be done about it," Hurt said on "Special Report".

His comments came in light of a report in which managers announced that the programs were heading for insolvency.

By 2020, the report said the total cost of the insurance would exceed total income for the first time in almost four decades, and in seven years, Medicare Hospital Fund would be exhausted.

Several progressive lawmakers, including late Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Have proposed extending Medicare to create a single payer health system. According to Hurt, it would only make matters worse by centralizing power in the hands of bureaucrats.
