CenturyLink service restored after nationwide outbursts that affected Utah Gov, shipping, residents

SALT LAKE CITY – All services have been restored after CenturyLink outbreaks hit the Utah government, emergency services and residents Thursday and Friday, the company said.
CenturyLink, a nationwide telecommunications company, said all customer services had been restored in a tweet just after 7pm Friday.
The questions continued well into Friday afternoon, according to a tweet from the Mayor of Salt Lake City Jackie Biskupski .
Biskupski also tweeted Thursday afternoon as the Utah government experienced problems with telephone and internet services.

Utah court system, Salt Lake Valley Emergency Communications Center, Unified Police, Bountiful, Summit County and Box Elder County shipping also experienced intermittent problems with Internet and telephone problems on Thursday, although they were eventually able to rectify the issues, officials confirmed.
Pete Ashdown, CEO of Local Internet Provider XMission, said that the problem could have been a kind If wrong information is sent out of a source, the rest of the system is not smart enough to recognize that bad information and it is being copied out through the entire network.
That might be why the problem was so widespread, he said.
Ashdown says he doesn't know enough about CenturyLink's internal architecture to know if it was a malicious attack, but he claims it's an opportunity.
Federal Communication Commission launched a survey of the telecommunications giant Friday after calling a "troublesome" nationwide outbreak that prevented some customers from calling 911, according to a report by NBC.
"I have also spoken to CenturyLink to emphasize the urgency of restoring the service immediately," said FCC leader Ajit Pai. "We will continue to monitor this situation carefully to ensure that consumer access to 911 is restored as quickly as possible. . "
It is not yet clear whether outbreaks prevented anyone from receiving emergency services, NBC reported, but a man who tried to report a house fire in Boston was forced to resort to one of the city's old-fashioned warning box on the street after he could not call from their cell phone.
"While our network is experiencing service disruptions, where CenturyLink is the 911 provider, 911 calls are completed," CenturyLink tweeted Friday afternoon .
"As you are aware, CenturyLink has had a networking event. We take all service interruptions seriously and have had teams working around the clock to restore affected services. We have made significant progress in restoring and stabilizing services across the network over the past several hours. We are still focused on solving the entire remaining issue, "the company said in a sent message.
