CDC update on E. Coli steak outbreaks says TN has 52 reported cases, KY has 65

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released an update on beef E. coli outbreaks we reported earlier this month, and Tennessee now stands in 52 cases.

Overall, there are currently 177 reported cases across 10 states, resulting in 21 hospitalizations. No deaths have been reported.

The latest CDC report saw fewer numbers; Growth in reported cases has grown by less than 30 overall. Officials believe the outbreak began in early March.

Kentucky has 65 reported cases – most of all the other states now affected. The first outbreak of the E. coli infection was enveloped in mystery with the source unknown, and first achieved six states.

According to the new report, there are now 10 reported states, several in the South: Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia .
