Buc-ee’s brings a 100-pump travel center to Springfield

Buc-ee’s, a Texas-based gas station chain, is bringing a massive new store to Missouri. The chain plans to open a new 100 pump and 53,000 square foot location in Show-Me State. The Springfield City Council on Monday approved plans for the new site to be built. The store will go up near I-44 near the Lake of the Ozarks, according to the Springfield News-Leader. The gas station is also known for its incredibly clean toilets. A welcome sign for anyone taking a trip down to the Ozarks. “If you’ve been to Buc-ee’s, you may already know that this friendly neighbor along the highways has the cleanest restrooms in America. In 201[ads1]2, Cintas ran a nationwide restroom competition and made it official!” Buc-ee’s touts on their website. The News-Leader says that the chain hopes to break ground and complete construction by 2023. Building the facility will not be a small task, especially given the enormous size of the planned travel center. The chain currently has over 40 locations and world records for both the largest convenience store and the longest car wash. Each record clocks in at 66,335 square feet and 255 feet of conveyor belts, respectively. It is safe to say that the gas station will almost certainly be more of a tourist attraction than a pit stop. The only question now, how long will it take before a Buc-ee goes further north?
