British companies plan to microchip their employees to increase security and stop staff from accessing sensitive areas of business, The Sunday Telegraph has learned. [1[ads1]9659004] Biohax, a Swedish tech company, has revealed that it is in talks with a number of UK legal and financial services companies to implant workers with human chip devices. A potential client, as the company could not mention, is believed to be a major global audit firm with "hundreds of thousands of employees."
"These companies have sensitive documents they have to deal with," said Jowan Osterlund, founder of biohax and a former professional body piercer. "[The chips] will allow them to impose restrictions on whoever is."
The chips, about the size of a grain of grains, cost pounds 150 each and are similar to those used for pets. In addition to restricting access to controlled areas, microchips can be used to buy food from the canteen, enter the building or access printers.
"There is no loser, it's impossible to let go, it's not forgetting. It's always going to be an ultimate backup," says Osterlund. The microchips use near-field communication – the same technology found in contactless bank cards. 19659004] In Sweden, around 4000 inhabitants have been tiled, including 85 of the 500 employees of tour leader Tui.
Osterlund said he was not aware everyone would be keen to get an implant first.
"It's a learning curve "he said." If this came from a government, I would be like yes, you know what, no it's not going to happen. We are a private actor, we do this with our community, for our society. "
Last year, Hampshire-based entrepreneur Steven Northam became the first person in the UK to be equipped with a microchip.
As Biohax, he offers the service to companies and individuals through his company, BioTeq.
" It can get big impact on society and business, "he said." In the future, we all want one. "
