Boozy Fresca comes to a liquor store near you




In a collaboration between Corona brewer Constellation Brands and Coke, the companies will launch Fresca Mixed, a liquor-based cocktail, later this year.

Fresca is the second non-alcoholic drink owned by Cola that is being converted into a spiked version. In 2020, it launched Topo Chico hard seltzer. Photos and nutritional information for Fresca Mixed have not yet been released.
Constellation (STZB) and Cola said they are launching the product because Fresca is “experiencing an increase in popularity”[ads1]; because it is zero-calorie and has no sugar, making the 64-year-old drink an optimal mixer choice.
'Diet' soda disappears from store shelves
The companies did not reveal what flavors they will release, but they said Fresca Mixed will be “inspired by recipes made by Fresca fans from around the world.” A famous fan is Bravo host Andy Cohen, who usually drinks a “Frequila” on his show, mixing tequila and a Fresca.

Sales of canned cocktails have exploded as drinkers look for convenience and new flavors beyond wine and beer. The beverage category grew by 53% last year and is estimated to grow another 29% over the next three years, according to data from IWSR Drinks Analysis. Constellation’s research states that alternative beverages for adults, which include ready-to-drink cocktails, represent a $ 8 billion market and will continue to grow.

The mania overshadows spiky seltzers. After strong sales in recent years, the low-calorie beverage has faded in popularity – and sales – as customers get tired of it.
Cola rival PepsiCo (PEP) announced last year its entry into alcoholic beverages with “HARD MTN DEW”, a sugar-free canned beverage with 5 volume percent alcohol made with Boston Beer Company (SAM).
