Bitcoin investor, on charity lunch, wants to win over Warren Buffett

Justin Sun, the crypto entrepreneur who paid a $ 4.57 million record for lunch with Warren Buffett, told CNBC on Tuesday that he wants to change the billionaire investor's mind on hating bitcoin.

Sun, founder of CryptoCurrency Tron and CEO of File-Sharing company BitTorrent, had the highest bid for 20 years of the charity auction. Proceeds goes to the Glide Foundation to help the homeless in San Francisco, where BitTorrent is located.

By winning the auction, Sun can invite seven guests, and he said he will bring other leaders of the cryptocurrency industry to lunch in New York. But he told CNBC that he is not sure who to bring yet.

Sun said he is a believer and a fan of the Buffet and his "long-term value investment strategy". He added that he wants to pay Buffett "back for his inspiration."

But, Berkshire Hathaway, CEO and CEO, is not a bitcoin fan. Previously, he called it "rat poison squared."

When asked about lunch, Buffett laughed and told CNBC's Becky Quick that he was looking forward to it.

Sol admitted on the "Squawk Box" he knows he will not change Buffetts mind in a three-hour lunch, but he hopes to give him another opinion and show him "how much progress we have made" over the last 1[ads1]0 years in the crypto course industry. "I want him to learn what the younger generations are doing," Sun says.

While some previous winners have chosen to remain anonymous, Ted Weschler – later employed as Berkshire Investment Manager – and Greenlight Capital's David Einhorn became auction winners in previous years.
