The left-wing power center duo Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez chaired a meeting outside Amazon’s JFK8 warehouse in Staten Island on Sunday to show support for the workers’ newly formed union.
The Poles’ behavior came when employees at Amazon’s LDJ5 warehouse, also on Staten Island, prepared to vote on Monday on whether they should join forces.
Ocasio-Cortez (D-Bronx) and Sanders (D-Vt.) Took pot shots at Amazon founder Jeff Bezos as they urged the company to formally recognize the Staten Island union.
“We have to acknowledge … that we have the first unionized Amazon in America here in New York City,”[ads1]; AOC said.
She and Sanders also lamented Amazon’s controversial work practices.
“I say to Jeff Bezos, who owns a $ 500 million yacht – I say, ‘Jeff, when you’re out on your yacht, I want you to think about the workers,’ Sanders said. “They want affordable housing. They want to be able to put away a few dollars to send their children to college.
“They do not want to be exploited and continue this huge turnover that is taking place here because of the terrible working conditions.”
