Barclays moves 500 jobs to N.J. from Delaware
Barclays says it's moving about 500 jobs in financial service in Delaware to a new business campus in New Jersey.
Officials with the British bank said Wednesday that job transfers from Wilmington to Whippany, New Jersey, campus will begin this fall and will be completed by the end of the year.
The company said the move is in line with the focus on developing large regional hubs that allow operational and technological teams to work more efficiently. Wilmington employees who do not move will be offered departure and job search assistance.
Democratic government John Carney described the loss of Delaware jobs as "disappointing".
The company said that Wilmington will continue to be the strategic headquarters of its US Consumer Bank division.
