AT&T and Sprint settle lawsuits over faux 5G branding
Sprint's lawsuit sought to prevent AT&T from using 5GE codes on their devices and advertising. AT&T phones in areas with upgraded 4G or 5G Evolution coverage show 5GE when data connections are turned on. According to Dallas Business Journal the carrier will still be able to continue its 5G Evolution advertising and marketing campaigns. It is just unclear whether it should now clarify that 5GE is not genuine 5G and if it needs to release additional advertising material to clarify what the code means.
