Aston Martin's all-electric Rapide E is a 604HP leap into the future
In the car, there is enough carbon fiber, and analog monitors are replaced by a 10-inch digital display that shows the state charge, power levels, real-time energy consumption and more. You can also get much of that information through an app that connects to the vehicle and will also remember where it is parked.
Another big difference between this car and the previous one is its aerodynamic design. Since it does not need an exhaust, the rear diffuser has grown, along with a newly designed floor to take advantage of it. Because it does not need so much cooling, the airflow through the body has been reduced to improve the area – measured over 200 miles on WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure). The wheels and low resistance Pirelli P-Zero are also set for maximum efficiency.
At the Shanghai event, Aston Group CEO, Dr. Andy Palmer, said: "The disclosure of Rapide E will be a great moment for Aston Martin. Our first all-electric production car is a truly historic step. One who signals Aston Martin is prepared on the big challenge of an environmentally responsible and sustainable future. As a car company we cannot afford to passively allow the future to come to us; we must actively hunt it. "
