Apple CEO Tim Cook said Sunday he is "heartbroken" about the mass shooting that took place in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio this weekend, leaving 29 people dead in less than 24 hours.

Cook continued to slam US lawmakers' passivity around gun control as "insanity" and requested bipartisan action in the case.

A shooting Saturday at a Walmart in El Paso killed 20 people and wounded 26 more, while a shooting in Dayton left nine people dead and 27 others injured.

This is not the first time Cook has expressed concern about US government policy.

In 201[ads1]7, Cook strongly criticized President Donald Trump's executive order banning the entry of citizens from seven Muslim-majority nations. He also joined a group of tech leaders in calling Trump's trans-gender military ban, calling it "discrimination."
