Amtrak train bound for Grand Rapids hits unoccupied vehicle in Indiana
CHESTERTON, IN – An Amtrak train bound for Grand Rapids hit an unoccupied vehicle in Northern Indiana, but no one was injured.
According to the Associated Press, the collision occurred around 7:30 pm on Sunday near Chesterton, Indiana about 46 miles southeast of Chicago and about 30 miles south of the Michigan border.

According to the Northwest Indiana Times, the car was owned by a local man, David Lawson Jr., who had exited the car after stopping on the tracks due to a flat tire.
