American Airlines data errors disrupt pilots’ schedules

American Airlines Group and the union representing its pilots is discussing additional pay for some pilots to compensate them for flying future flights that were dropped from their plans due to a computer error, the union said Sunday.

The Allied Pilots Association said the airline’s planning platform incorrectly allowed pilots early Saturday morning to drop thousands of future trips. As a result, as many as 12,075 flights were missing during the month of July, a captain, a first officer or both, the union said.
