American Airlines cancel almost 1000 flights

American Airlines said that it has proactively canceled nearly 1,000 solar flights due to the storm. It is on top of 160 cancellations on Saturday.
Most of the canceled Sunday flights are to and from Charlotte, North Carolina, where America has a big hub. The airline said that it is reducing operations at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport from Saturday night.
All flights to and from Charlotte on American regional partners are canceled on Sunday, and more than two out of three of the other Charlotte flights are canceled.
Since Charlotte is a US federal hub, the cancellations also affect passengers to and from destinations not affected by the storm.
Southwest Airlines has canceled four flights to and from Charlotte on Sunday in addition to canceling the last four flights due to arriving at the airport on Saturday.
Travelers recommend checking the flight status before going to the airport.
US, Southwest and other airlines have had travel arrangements in place this week, so passengers are scheduled to fly to, from or through Charlotte and other cities to change their plans without penalty to get out of the storm's way.
