AMC Theaters now allows you to buy cinema tickets with Bitcoin
AMC Theaters, which may be the king of memo sticks, promised in August that you would be able to pay for tickets and concessions with Bitcoin by the end of the year, and now you can do just that.
Bitcoin is not the only cryptocurrency you can use; AMC also accepts Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin for online purchases, according to one tweet from CEO Adam Aron (via CoinTelegraph). He also says you can pay online with Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal.

Note that Aron only highlights payment methods for Online buy, so it does not sound like you can use crypto to buy something personal in a theater. Aron also says that the new payment methods “already account for 14 percent of our total online transactions”, but it is not clear whether this number refers to cryptocurrencies or includes all the methods listed in his tweet. AMC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
I do not own a cryptocurrency, so I can not personally confirm how I use it to buy things online with AMC. But at checkout on AMC’s website, PayPal is listed as a payment method with the note that it “supports cryptocurrencies.” This probably means that you have to log in with your PayPal account and choose any cryptocurrency available there to pay for tickets or licenses. PayPal seems to be only way to pay with cryptocurrency at AMC at the moment, so if you prefer to use another method, you may be unlucky right now.
And if you want to pay with Dogecoin? It is “next”, says Aron. The company is also exploring the Shiba Inu cryptocurrency.
