Amazon's new beauty shop for professionals poses a threat to beauty retailers



(Reuters) – On Monday, Amazon.com Inc. presented its online professional beauty store to sell supplies to licensed professional stylists, hairdressers and aesthetics, which weigh on the share of other beauty retailers.

Following the Amazon announcement, shares in the beauty sales of Ulta Beauty Inc fell by 3%, and Sally Beauty Holdings drove 9%.

Stylists can now find almost everything they need to run their business in a single store at low prices, with fast and free one to two-day shipping on eligible Business Prime orders, Amazon said.
