The minimum wage at Amazon will remain at $15 an hour.

The company employed approximately 1.5 million workers at the end of June.

The move comes ahead of a recently announced Prime Day-style shopping event in October.

The company is the latest major retailer to offer holiday deals earlier this year to lure cautious consumers on tighter budgets.
