TAMPA, Fla. – Amazon customers in some Florida cities
will see delayed deliveries
when the company proactively closes facilities ahead of Hurricane Dorian.
The company states that customers in Tampa, Orlando and Miami will be affected. Some Tampa Bay area residents say their deliveries have been pushed back for a week or more.
Amazon issued the following statement.
Although we do not yet know what the impact of the storm will have on our local teams, safety for our staff and drivers is always our top priority. We have proactively begun to temporarily shut down operating facilities in the potentially affected areas. We pay Amazon employees 100 percent of their regular time if their facilities temporarily shut down and are prepared to provide support to them and their families so they can recover from this storm.
Customers living in areas affected by the hurricane may see a delayed delivery date for items when they go to checkout. Under limited circumstances, customers outside the affected area may also see a slower delivery promise if the product they order sends from an area within the projected path to the hurricane. Right now, our disaster relief team is monitoring Hurricane Dorian's Amazon team and working to prepare and provide support along with our nonprofit organizations to communities that may be affected.
