A mother from Texas left the phone unlocked. Then her 2 year old son ordered 31 cheeseburgers

A mother from Texas learned an important lesson about leaving the phone unlocked after her 2-year-old son accidentally ordered 31 McDonald’s cheeseburgers from DoorDash.

On Monday, Kelsey Golden, who works with media marketing for a school, worked with the school̵[ads1]7;s annual yearbook on the computer at home. She transferred photos from the phone to the computer when her 2-year-old son Barrett started “jerking” on her phone, she told CNN.

Golden explained that her son loves the camera function on her phone. “He likes to look at his mirror image,” she said, instead of playing games or doing other activities on the phone.

But this time, Barrett did not just stare at his reflection. “He starts tapping the screen, swinging it around as if his arm is a roller coaster,” she said.

Golden then received a warning that her DoorDash order was taking longer than usual – which was unusual, because even though she sometimes ordered DoorDash for the two older children’s lunches at school, she had packed their food that morning.

A work colleague aroused the confusion when she told Golden that her children actually ate their packed lunch at school – no DoorDash in sight.

“Just like she said, I was out playing with Barrett on the porch,” she said. “A car drives in and I thought ‘what’? ‘

At first, Golden said, she thought the delivery driver was in the wrong house. “Then it dawned on me that Barrett was playing with my phone,” she said. “I went back and looked at my phone and an order was placed at the time he was playing with my phone.”

“I thought, my God, he really did this.”

The random order was even more out of place because “no one in our family likes cheeseburgers,” Golden said. So she posted a post on the city’s Facebook page offering free cheeseburgers.

“It kind of blew up from there.”

“A woman came by, she was pregnant and wanted six of them,” she said. “No verdict.” She added that she also donated some cheeseburgers to neighbors.

The total order came out to $ 91.70, in part because Barret gave a “very generous” 25 percent tip, Golden said.

She said she “had no idea” that the accident would go viral. On Friday, she and Barrett were invited to a meeting with McDonald’s employees, where her son could meet the company’s mascots, take pictures and enjoy some chicken nuggets.

Golden hopes that his son’s “fluke” order will help brighten people’s days.

“I hope it spreads some humor in a sad dark world,” she said.
