(WITI) – Seven Popeyes employees were fired after a brawl at a Milwaukee restaurant was caught on camera.
Richard Fourte entered Popeye's Wednesday night to avoid driving through the lane. He noticed many employees working there before things got heated.
Fourte heard some yelling: "It's a fight!" before running back to the grills. Then he said, "two guys are starting to fight again." He started recording with his cellphone when a violent fight broke out, with chairs flying and several employees throwing punches.
"It was just out of control," Fourte said. "It was the first thing that went through my head, like this is out of control."
He can be heard on the video telling them to break it up soon. After the situation cooled down, Fourte left the restaurant empty-handed.
"Honestly, I didn't even have to get my chicken sandwich, you know," Fourte said.
Popeye's franchise owner John Broderson issued the following statement to Fox6:
"This was an unfortunate, isolated event that we take very seriously. The dining room was closed right after the rescheduling at 9:30 pm. As a result, 7 employees were told from the company, including the officer in charge. "
Milwaukee police responded to the scene, but no arrests were made. It is still unclear what triggered the match.
