Every year, the Environmental Group publishes a report on the condition of sunscreen. Often it is quite scary: For example, they estimate that half of the sunscreens on the market do not adequately protect us from UVA rays, or that high SPF numbers are misleading to consumers for protection.
This year, however, a glimmer of hope was offered, as the FDA recently released its proposed regulatory changes and they were quite large. (Read about this!) And many of them were fully in line with what the EWG has undertaken over the past decade, including more research on specific ingredients and higher UVA protection standards.
Along with the report, they also released the entire list of all EWG-approved secure SPFs. Well, we fought through everything. Here are some of our favorites.
