A group of Long Island colleagues have claimed the biggest jackpot in the New York Lottery story. A 23-member group, who opted to remain anonymous, claimed a $ 437 million Mega Millions jackpot through the New Life 2019, LLC, lottery officials announced Tuesday.
The winning ticket for the January 1 draw was sold at Brookville Auto Service on Route 25A in Glen Head.
They chose to take the cash value of the prize, a single lump sum totaling $ 262,213,914, and will receive a $ 1
Representatives of New Life 2019 said they were playing the lottery weekly. Each member puts a dollar in an envelope that one member takes to buy the group's tickets.
When they all started to work for two days after the drawing, words spread to win the Mega Millions jackpot. There was a lot of crying, squeezing and jumping around that day. Many of the members doubled and tripled the checked ticket in disbelief.
Representatives said most employees will continue to work because they see themselves as a family and not just employees. Plans among the New Life group for the rewards include new homes, college subjects for their children, and travel.
Before the New Life 2019 LLCs $ 437 million, the biggest jackpot in the New York Lottery story was won by Harold Diamond of Wurtsboro. The retired primary school principal was the only winner of a $ 326 million Mega Millions jackpot in 2014.
