2022 Strawberry Recall: FDA investigates hepatitis A outbreak related to fresh organic strawberries from Fresh Kampo and HEB

The brands involved were Fresh Kampo and HEB.

Anyone who has bought these strawberries between March 5 and April 25, 2022, and frozen them for later consumption, should throw them away.

If you are unsure of which brand you bought, when you bought your strawberries, or where you bought them from before freezing them, the strawberries should be discarded, says the FDA.

They were sold in a number of stores, including Aldi, Sprouts, Trader Joe’s, WinCo Foods and Walmart, according to the FDA.

Trace investigations show that cases in California, Minnesota and Canada report having bought fresh organic strawberries labeled as FreshKampo or HEB before they became ill.

The dates for disease onset vary from March 28 to April 30, 2022.

Symptoms of hepatitis A usually occur within 1[ads1]5 to 50 days after eating or drinking contaminated food or water, and may include fatigue, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, jaundice, dark urine and pale stools. Chronic hepatitis A infection can lead to more serious health problems, including liver failure and death.
