13 American Airlines passengers sick with mysterious illness
More than a dozen people were hospitalized after an unidentified disease after their Miami-to-Boston aircraft landed at Logan International Airport on Sunday morning, reports reported.
The 13 unfortunate pilots – the whole part of a student group who returned from a trip abroad – reported themselves ill and were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital after their American Airlines flight landed around 10:12, according to WCVB TV.
A passenger saw people vomit on the plane, according to the station.
The group had visited the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador before passing through Miami, an American Airlines rep told the outlet. Three other members reported themselves ill, but were not hospitalized.
A chaperone told the American that the 1[ads1]3 "ate the same" before they became ill. No one else on the plane showed symptoms, according to the airline.
Officials described the symptoms as mild – even though they were not immediately sure of what caused them.
